위험한 순간이나 위기가 있었지만 다행히 큰일이 없었을 때 쓰는 표현입니다. "That was close."이나 "He/she had a close call."이라고도 합니다.

A:She almost got in an accident. When she was walking down the street, she was almost hit by a car.
B:Oh, no! Is she okay?
A:Yes, it was a close call, but she's O.K.
A:소피아에 대한 소식 들었니?
B:아니? 뭔데 ?
A:그녀가 사고가 날 뻔했다나봐. 길을 걷고 있는데, 갑자기 차가 그녀를 향해 돌진하더래.
B:오,그녀는 괜찮아 ?
A:응, 다행히 차가 바로 섰나봐. 정말 큰일 날 뻔했지. 하지만 괜찮대.

To run close behind (바짝 접근하다, 아슬아슬하게 뒤쫓다)
Tom is running close behind his competition.(톰이 그의 상대를 아주 가깝게 뒤쫓고 있다.)
To be close to someone (친하게 지내다)
Call back (되부르다, 소환하다, 철회하다, 다시 전화를 하다)
(예)She was called back after her first audition.(그녀는 오디션 후에 회신을 받았다.)
To call someone down (내려오라고 부르다)
(예)Tom! Call your father down to the kitchen. Dinner is ready.(톰. 아버지에게 내려오시라고 그래라. 저녁 다됐다.)
It is not right to call him that. You don't even know him that well. (그를 비난하는 것은 옳은 일은 아냐. 넌 그 사람을 잘 알지도 못 하잖아.)
