개성이 중요시되는 요즘에도 유행하는 스타일이 있게 마련인데 "그것은 유행이에요. " 라고 하려면 "It's in fashion." 이라고 한다.
예를 들어 "구멍이 난 진 바지를 입는 것이 유행이에요. " 는 "It's in fashion to wear jeans with holes in them." 이라고 하고 "이 헤어커트가 유행이에요. " 는 "This haircut is in fashion." 이라고 한다.
"It's in fashion." 과 비슷한 표현엔 "It's the latest style." "It's what is in." "It's trendy." 등이 있다.
반대로 "그것은 유행이 지났다. " 라고 하려면 "It's out of fashion." 이라고 한다.
A:What do you think of that girl's hat?
B:Well, I wouldn't wear it.But it looks good on her.
A:I see many people wearing hats like that.
B:That's because it's in fashion.
A:I hope that style passes quickly.
B:Not me.I think it's very fashionable.
A:저 여자의 모자에 대해 어떻게 생각해?
B:난 저런 모자는 안 쓰는데. 하지만, 저 여자에겐 잘 어울리는군.
A:난 저런 모자 쓰는 사람들을 많이 보는데.
B:그것이 유행이니까.
A:저런 스타일은 빨리 유행이 지나갔으면 좋겠어.
B:난 안 그래. 내 생각에는 매우 멋진 것 같아.
